Our lesson program works to remove the barriers to learning:

  1. No registration fees.
Why would anyone charge you a fee to sign up for lessons?

  2. 30-minute lessons, once a week.
(And we want you to practice every day for at least 30 minutes).

  3. Same day, same time.
Your lessons won't move around from week to week.

  4. No long-term commitment.
You can stop whenever you want. But why would you?

  5. Professional instructors.
They wake up every morning wanting to teach. They aren't doing this "just until they hit it big".

  6. Competitive pricing.
Our instructors set their own instructional fees, which are very competitive.

  7. In-store lesson support.
Our store staff is always available to help you with questions about lessons, scheduling, etc.

We believe in making music a part of everyone's life - for an entire life. Listening to music, playing music, creating new music. We're passionate about this stuff because we've seen the differences it has made to the lives around us.

We want to share this passion with you. We want to give you the gift of a lifetime of musical pleasure. And the way to that pure pleasure is through lessons.

The better you play, the more music you can play. The more music you can play, the more joy you get from playing music. The more joy you get, the more you'll want to improve your playing. And lessons are what drive the whole cycle. Which is why we strongly believe in the following statement:

The single best investment you can make in your music is to take lessons from a qualified, experienced instructor.

The right instructor can be the catalyst that dramatically improves your playing abilities, improving your enjoyment and the pure pleasure you can have playing a musical instrument.

There are some long-term benefits that scientists have discovered.

First, learning to play a musical instrument and learning to read music has shown to demonstratively increase one's IQ.

Second, the act of learning music creates new "wiring" in the brain, which makes learning other symbolically (i.e. math) and linguistically based (i.e. English, French, Spanish) languages easier to learn.

Third, a recent study has shown that studying music for at least four years as a teenager results in an adult with a life-long passion for music who will either continue to play music, or who will return to play music sometime in their lifetime.

And finally, a recent study has shown that studying music in one's 50's and 60's significantly pushes off the onset of mentally degrading diseases such as Alzheimer's.

We get this question a lot.

There is no fixed age for starting lessons.

For children, a good time to start lessons is when they reach a personal maturity where they can intensely focus for a 30-minute lesson and have the discipline to practice 30 minutes every day. In most cases, this is around 10 years of age. But we have seen a few children as young as 5 who have the passion and concentration to succeed.
